Day 12: Panama City
We departed New Orleans in the morning and enjoyed a drive alongside Mississippi River where I had fond memories of when I was younger when I visited the river and saw some crocodiles. We arrived in Panama City- the one in USA not the country one!
It was immediately clear to us that it was a holiday destination equivalent to likes of Skegness, Blackpool, Bognor Regis and Whitby Bay minus the chav factor! There were rows and rows of motels and hotels lining massive beach that went on for miles. There were plenty of pubs and arcades to complete the jovial and cheerful atmosphere.
Soon as we saw a glimpse of the beach sandwiched between motels, we were dying for a swim and our wish were granted as we decided to stop for a swim. It was a very enjoyable swim with monstrous waves where the boys had a whale of the time bodysurfing the waves. We also soaked in the atmosphere where we realised the majority of girls were really thin which lived up the traditional body-obsessed image of Florida projected by the media.
When it became cold, we all trundled back to RV and drove to Tampa, stopping by a petrol station overnight where the highlight was witnessing a face-off between two cats who stared at each other for long periods where we grew tired of looking at them yet when we checked on them a while later, they were still fixated on each other in the same spot which had us in stitches.
