This blog will charter Sara and my travels in Sri Lanka which was chosen because Sara has volunteered as a teacher for deaf children in a deaf school in the previous year and she wanted to return to Sri Lanka to show me her adventures during her volunteering experience. Surprisingly, the opportunity came around earlier than expected and we have arrived at this point where we are due to depart for Sri Lanka however Sara being Sara decided to leave packing until on the day!
However, after all packing drama, Sara and I chose to use the tube to the airport only to realise the folly of our decision when we travelled during the rush hour in humid conditions lugging our rucksack! We attributed it down to our naivety as Londoners as we have made the move to London two months ago.
However, we arrived at Heathrow airport where I bumped into England deaf cricket squad flying to South Africa to play a series there. The squad included an old friend that I met at Deaflympics in Bulgaria which I spent a while catching up with. The next destination was Oman where we needed to change planes for Sri Lanka so we flew with Oman Airlines. This is one of my pet hates about travelling and I always moan about it in every blog I do but here it goes again-there was no subtitles expect for foreign films predictably enough!
