Our second day in Bangkok (Sunday) took us to the weekend market at Chatuchak park; wow what an experience! Although myself and Jenny had spent rather a long day there on my previous trip to Thailand I forgot how hectic and big it was. Ash was on the hunt for shorts which after a 2 hour search, he mamaged to buy some fromk the first stall we looked at (always the case hey!). I also took Ash to the market on the Sky train which gave him th chance to see the city from up high. He enjoyed the air conditioning!
Again, it was raining once we arrived back to our hostel and so we decided to have pad thai and treat ourselves to a traditional thai massage. This was great! Ash had always previously descirbed massages in England as "pointless', he didnt really see the point of paying for a "stroke and a tickle!". This was definately not a stroke and a tickle, at one point I looked at Ash to which he was struggling to catch his breath as the little thai girl was standing on his hamstrings! Feeling refreshed and much more flexible we headed back to our hostel for a chilled evening of washing and wandering around. We also bought a tee shirt each from the markets. Its all too cheap to resist!
During our last day in Bangkok we decided to visit the Grand Palace and thankfully the sun decided to shine (a little bit). We both enjoyed taking pictures and looking at the temples and palace.
In the evening we headed to the train station to catch the sleeper train to Chiang Mai after stocking up with treats from 7 Eleven. We were both really impressed with the set up on the train and luckily it wasnt busy at all and so had lots of rom to spread out. We both got tucked in around 8:30 to our top bunks opposite one another both hoping the chugging of the train would rock us to sleep. Thankfully I managed 1 hour bouts but Ash had a sketchier nights sleep. With a 3 hour delay due to flooding we arrived in Chiang Mai this morning just before midday, 17 hour train experience-DONE. Excited about booking our cooking course and trek!

Andy Woods Ape's im so proud of you going travelling. You can only put into words how amazing it is and convey it to other travellers. I really miss the get-up-and-go from my trip. Chiang Mai was one of my favourite places on the whole trip. Look out for the 3 night treck with éagle house 2 guesthouse'. I went and it was such an amazing experience, living with 2 different jungle tribes, elephant trecking, river rafting. Some very humble people and gave me a great appreciation and outlook on life. I also had the top bunk on the sleeper train! Though hardly managed a wink. It amazed me how organised the thai's are on those trains. Ill be keeping a close eye on your blog, so keep me well updated. love Woody (jazz geek) :-) x p.s, if you plan to visit any islands, apart from the usual phi phi, tao, samui, phangan etc, look to head to an island called 'ko samet'!!! its in the north east of the country, its a beautiful little island where tourism hasnt hit to heavily and the beaches are simply beautiful!
Laura I still make the meals that I learnt how to on my thai cookery course in Chiang Mai, I will expect to be invited round on your return, to sample some of your culinary delights!! xx

Did you wear better shoes this time?!!?As for the massage...was it an 'interesting' experience like the last one!?! What did you wear? Ha. Loving the 7 Elevens - had forgotten all about them!!! Don't forget: don't eat too many veggies ;) Anyway no gossip this end - roll on half term! Enjoy your trekking and cooking course - Chiang Mai apparently fab for trekking.
