This is a journal entry that I wrote my last day in Costa Rica. I never got around to actually re-write in on this blog. So, now I am. The last days spent in Costa Rica were pretty emotional. The morning everybody had to leave Anamaya I was talking with John. A man who also did the taoflow teacher training as well. He lives in Montezuma now originally from Canada. We were talking about nature and carrying on about how beautiful it was in Montezuma and how sad I was to leave. I asked, "Do you get bored here." Obviously there were thoughts crossing my mind to posibly live in Costa Rica in the future. But, of course after I asked that question. I didnt even give him time to answer. I said, "of course you do not how can you? Only if you were to allow yourself." All month I spent getting to be one with nature. Just living and breathing in such a pure place. I used to think that was how the islands of Hawaii were. But, after being in Costa Rica there is nothing I have seen yet that can top the beauty and air of that place. Nature at its finest. The way of life and way that culture lives cannot be described. They understand the meaning of living and the simplicity of life. Everyday I go through arguments with myself of weather I can live in a world of such simplicity. And, I ask myself, What is it that I am even questioning? Johns reply was nothing other than, "No, I do not get bored, and you would not believe how many other people ask me that question." That is the same type of question that people used to ask me when I worked on the ship. If I like my job. Usually my response to that question was," would you ever do something that you dont have a passion for, doesnt make you happy, and you dont like doing"? Thats when I realized I must have been lying to myself while answering that question. Deep down in my heart I knew that i was not happy with such a fabricated lifestyle. But, that is because I chose to not be happy. That is when I decided I knew I had to venture to Costa Rica, and no excuses were to be made. On continuation to John and I conversation we continued to talk about the SIMPLE lifestyle and the way that the way of life was in costa rica. He was telling me about this homeless man who lives on the beach and gets to wake up everyday to the ocean, a beautiful sunrise, and the beauty and gifts of nature. He was able to survive. Not only survive but be happy. He found happiness. His life was simple. Living on the ship, I didnt even get to wake up to sunlight. Just a dark tiny box which made you feel trapped and broken pushing through the days and looking forward to the days where you can just wake up to sunlight and the sounds of nature. What a horrible way to go on living. You shouldn't have to look forward to living life. It should be something you do on a day to day basis. Back onto the conversation I was having with John. The reason he brought up the man living on the ocean is because he was telling me he would rather live on the mountain top away from the ocean with the georgeous view instead of living on the ocean. I said the difference between that might have to be the view, and the feeling. John posted a picture of this homeless guys view that he wakes up to everyday. People commented how beautiful and breathtaking this view was. then he posted a picture of the homeless mans tent with a sign in the front of it that read RESPECT. People then had a different idea of the view and had no comments but disgust. Suddenly their view changed and so did their idea of it being a beautiful place anymore. All because it was a view that the homeless man had. Lets look at the bigger picture here.....This man lives in a tent on the ocean, simply happy. This is his bliss. This is all he has to worry about. Somebody to respect his home. Why was there a sign that said respect? most likely because people didnt respect it. Once they saw him and the way he lived his lifestyle people no longer respected it. They started judging, which caused them to form opinions. How many of you have woken up to the warmth of the sun and the sound of the ocean? For those of you that haven't, it is one of the best feelings in the world. You wake up to the sun beating down on your skin, the sound of birds, and the voice of the ocean. You are grounded with earth for the sand has formed with your body as you were resting. It is peaceful and you feel alive. You feel a cool breeze and the taste of the ocean mist on your lips. The air is so pure and fresh. You have no worries. Why should you? This is the simple life, and sometimes thats all people need. Just the fact that you wake up breathing is pure bliss. it is really pretty amazing. I recently posted on my facebook that there is nothing better than falling asleep to the ocean. One of my great friends replied. His response was, "Yes there is, waking up to it." These are the people in life that I surround myself by. What a great way to think. And a great way to be. I am grateful for the people in my life.
