We arrived in Airlie beach on the bus from Hervey Bay. We checked in with the Boat Company, before making our way, via a bakery for elevens', to the Dock. Here, we climbed aboard our home for the next 3 days, the stunning sail boat, The S.V. Whitehaven. We made our way by engine to Whitsunday Island, mooring just off the shore, and travelling by Dingy to the beach. Here we went on a short rainforest stroll, during which, Alex licked an Ant's bum, which we are assured tasted of Haribo sweets. It should be sayed that this was on the recomendation of our guide, the ship hand, and not just a bizarre fetish.
Unfortunately, that evening the weather took a turn for the worse, so we stayed on the slightly rocking boat and enjoyed a dinner of Chicken curry while making accquaintance with our fellow passengers.
The following morning, Sails were raised at 7am and we made our way to Whtiehaven beach, which is rated in the top 3 beaches in the world. It was a beautifal 10km strech of white sand, uninhabited by humans and with nothing to spoil the stunning view. For the afternoon, we raised anchor and moved to an area of Coral, where we went snorkelling and saw some amazing fish and wildlife. The highlight however was when Arun caught a glimpse of a turtle under the coral, and the whole group saw it as it swam away into the blue expanse.
We enjoyed another relaxing night on the boat, before the next morning making our way back to Airlie beach and checking into our Hostel.
A great trip!
