Hello family and friends!
Nice to see such a response- from Aruns keeno family! but keep it up (apart from Mick- who if you have nothing nice to say, dont say anything at all!). Firstly Delhi is hot, we arrived at 6 in the morning to a 32 degree airport and had to wade through the mass bodies and BO to get to our host- Aruns Grandma. The first experience of Delhi?was the driving and at even 7 in the morning?Alex thought he was going to die 5 times (and that was getting out of the airport!), and luckily the first thing we?saw at Pusa Rd (Grandma's house) was a full?on car crash- which sent us in confidence out onto the roads! Although knackered on the first day dave still managed 8 parantahs at breakfast setting the?benchmark for the trip! ?We've been on the cities new metro (thankfully at morning rush hour!), the smell woke us up before we got into CP, the central area in delhi, housing the big western chains and some nice restraunts. We were all jaded but decided to brave junpath bazaa in which we got thoroughly harased by shop keepers to look at their "Quality authentic Armani wallets" (at special prices, JUST FOR US !!) After only about 4 hours sleep we decided a sleep was in order, and more food (dave)- after which were were suitably energised and decided to go to Lodi Park- a beautiful garden. This was cooler then in the day which was nice, and alex- being the clever boy he is decided to stroke a probably rabid dog!
After an Air conditioned nights sleep, we? saw some temples and Qtub Minar (an ancient monument). Before being allowed in the temple, you have to remove your shoes but we were advised by Raju (our driver) to do so in the car park 500 yards away, thinking nothing of this we proceeded to do so. This was not the smartest idea as the groud was literally hot enough to fry an egg (or our feet), realising this as we left skin prints in the road we sprinted round the temple and back into the car to air conditioned safety ( and of corse Aruns insesent moaning for the next 24 hours....and counting). Later that evening we visited Dilli Haat, another footmarket which was vibrant with colours and music (we forgot our cameras!). That brings up pretty much up to date with our travels- of two days. Tomorrow at 6 we are up for the Rajistan Taj Trip which is much anticipated.
As with the photos the internet here is too slow to upload them, but when we have more time?then you will recieve our photographic prowess.
Keep in touch!
