Sunday
Today we had a later start. No early morning walk for us today. Feeling lazy .
After breakfast caught up on writing my travel diary. Thanks Bethany and Harmony for a great travel diary. Best one ever ,,
We then had a cultural day starting with a walk in the old historical part of Bergen
and a visit to the Hanseatic Museum . The Hanseatic area of Bryggen ( Habour ) was established by the Hanseatic League which was a commercial group of merchant guilds who dominated Baltic Maritime trade from 1400 to 1800 along the coast of Northern Europe. One of the foreign offices in Bergen was from 1360 to 1754. From Bergen they traded dried cod fish and grain. They were unmarried and celibate. Their buildings had no lighting or heating as the buildings were all made of wood and fire was a big danger. There was a big fire in 1702. The museum we visited was very dark inside narrow stairs small rooms.
Sorry Bethany for the explanation but it was worth seeing this museum
After a lovely lunch of seafood and apple pie we went by bus to the summer residence of Edvard Greig ,a composer of music set around the folk songs of Norway and attended a concert of some of his music played on piano.
Greig carried a small stone frog in his pocket when comparing music. Trolls were reflected in a lot of his music Bethany
Free evening tonight so heading out for a wander around. We had lobster soup at the Fish market for dinner. Very nice 20 Euro
