Today I arrived in Toulouse, France on the train at three in the morning. And yet, Théo and his mother were still there to pick me up. I hauled my bag off and we drove about ten minutes to their house up in the country. I was wearily shown my bedroom and, after slipping into pajamas I went immediately to sleep. When I woke up his mother had made chocolate croissants for breakfast, which were delicious. We took the metro to Place de Capitole which was very interesting. We sat and had coffee and people watched. I got to practice my french a lot, which was interesting. The Place de Capitole was built in 1190, to seat the government. There are eight columns which represent the original eight capitols. France during this time was ruled by Philip II, who was the last king of the Francs. Upon reading more about this time period, I realized how stressful living then would be. If you weren't a noble you basically had no money, and there were always wars and religious crusades going on. France was about the same size this time, sandwhiched up against the Holy Kingdom of Germany and the Roman Empire. Which is terrible, because they were really close to people they were often fighting.
