So we finally got into Boston after being delayed nearly 5 hours at Heathrow. Was very late when we finally got in so off to bed it was (after eating the complimentary fresh baked, warm chop chip cookie). The next day it was a trek around Boston following the Freedom Trail. We started off at Boston Common (Park) and the home of the outside of Cheers. From here we went past the town hall (Gilded with gold by Paul "the English are coming" Revere. This was followed by some of the oldest churches in Boston, the two oldest cemeteries and the monument. The cemeteries were quite an interesting site. We also went and visited Paul Revere's house which was decked out how it would have looked at the time. Very small for up to 9 people at a time. Glad I dont live back then. We also popped into the Quincy Markets and the replica Cheers bar there for lunch. Our waiter certainly earned his tip by providing us with much entertainment.
The second day in Boston I was on my own as Siobhan and Emma went to visit there great Aunt. So I decided to go to the Aquarium. It was awesome...sooo much better than Perth. The tanks were vibrant and all the fishies ect were very active. Especially the Octopus, which is rarely seen normally. Got to see the Seals and Penguins being fed and there were some very interesting talks.
The day following this we hiked it to the USS Constitution (or old Ironside as she is also known). It was quite a trek to get there and back in time for our train. The ship is the oldest commissioned warship afloat...over 200 years old! Our tour guide was a Petty Officer who got the unfortunate luck of being stationed at a tourist attraction for his first assignment. He was a great guide and very accommodating with questions and photo requests. And a little cute too (well he was in uniform :P). We then trained it down to New York. Siobhan and I went out to see Harry Potter 7 (finally - it was sooo good) and had a wander in Time Square. But loads more to do in New York!
