Herstmonceux Castle, UK
Well....I've been here in the United Kingdom for five days now and I've been exhausted for every one of them. Classes don't start until tomorrow, but we've been mad-crazy with orientation and tours and shindigs and hanging out in our pub, The Headless Drummer. Today we went on our first cultural field study (hear field trips are called field studies because....I dunno...we're tested on it). First we went to Birling Gap to chill by the sea. (Down by the sea...where the watermelons grow...back to my home...I dare not go...) It was really very beautiful and peaceful. The surrounding area is lovely farm country and we were down on a rocky shore overhung with massive chalk cliffs. There will be pictures eventually.
About that....I'm a total "challenged individual" and can't upload all my photos yet. See, I have an oldish Fujifilm camera which uses an XD (not SD) memory card and has a special little cord to hook into my computer. When packing, I decided not to bring my card-reader but just my little cord. So I took the reader its USB cord out of my stuff. Only....I didn't. I took out the reader and my CAMERA'S cord. So I have the reader's cord but no reader and the camera but no camera cord. I'm halfway there in two directions. I found one other girl (Katelyn) who also has a Fujifilm, but it is a different version and the size of the cord plug is about two millimeters off. Fujifilm b******s. Anyway, my dearest daddy should be sending my either the reader or the cord eventually and when he does I'll be posting photos like a madwoman.
After Birling Gap we went to Brighton for some free town. Brighton is awesome. We only had an hour and there are days and days worth of stuff to see so I'll be going back whenever I can. I actually didn't get to do much because I was with a gaggle of girls that were on a quest for cell phones and that ate up most of our time. I have decided that it really isn't worth it to get a phone. I'll just go for calling cards and e-mails. It's only four bloody months after all. But anyway. Brighton is a really really nice city and so beautiful and clean! There is a pier full of amusement park type rides and food vendors and stuff. There is a palace built for a past Prince Regent and just general British beauty.
Oh dear, I'm getting summoned for dinner. Must dash loves. More later.
