Hello everyone,
We are just chilling here in a Starbucks with the ever so lovely Kate. But before we tell you too much about this, let me inform you on the epicness that was Rouen, France.
Day one: Caen to a little village where the d.day beaches are located. We were excited to see some canadian history. Let me resume. June 6th, 1944. It was morning. A cloudy day. The beach was foggy. The tide was high. And our canadian military men were sent to liberate Normandy, France from those nazi b******s. Juno beach took the lives of many of the men but canadians made some great strides and are now really loved in this region. Now on the beach there is the Juno beach centre which we visited. It was really well done. Our guide was able to speak to us in French and brought us into a bunker that the canadians took from the germans. It was really crazy to look out onto the ocean and think that these young men had backpacks that were more than double the weight of mine and Ariane's packs. For me it was really hard to listen to the recordings of someone reading soldiers letters to home. One of them said something about this needing to be done for it to be the war to end all wars. If only. If only.
Day two: Jean d'Arc. Everything related to her. There was a wax museum, a church, a monument, etc. It was so informative. We also did a little walking tour of the city centre. It is so beautiful there. It honest to goodness looks like the set from beauty and the beast. The houses are so old and beautiful.
Day three: Jardin de Monet. SO BEAUTIFUL. There was a long enough line but it was well worth it. It looked exactly like so many of his paintings. The flowers smelt wonderful too. Like it just smelt as great as it looked. We also went to the Impressionist museum. I discovered that I really like this type of art. I like the nature scenes and that of the workers best. I am not sure why...maybe its those left leaning tendancies? Who knows.
Anyways, I should get going and spend some time with these two ladies. We spent the day in a trendy little part of London which had really cute things that were really unique. Had we known the food was so cheap there we would have gone...but now we know.
