After a really great nights sleep in what had to be the best hostel so far (and as im writing this in bolivia we didnt quite realise how spoilt we were!) we woke up to an amazing breakfast and were all set to go and conquer the tourist info centre of chile. By this point we had decided against skiing as it was just too expensive! Our map reading really hadnt got any better but eventually this lovely man tells us about a company that can organise everything for us only ten minutes down the road and just past that another place which should be really useful. So we set off with our packs on....bloody hot and heavy! an hour later we finally find the place we are looking for only to be told it had shut down over a year ago....bloody useless! But we tried to stay positive and headed off down the road to the next place. Well 5 minutes turned into ten which then turned into 2 hrs before we finally reached this stupid place and the guy working there tells us....dont be stupid of course you cant do any of the things you want to...it is winter in chile so nothing is open! I was nearly ready to cry and well mike also realised that our great plans for chile just werent going to happen! Oh well, we thought we would arrange to spend a couple of days in the mountains before heading off to the north where the weather was better.
We managed to check into another hostel which was actually a lifesaver as we finally met loads of other travellers in exactly the same boat as us and it was great just sharing stories with other people and hearing about theirs. One couple blew up their camper van with everything in it in NZ and so it made our first few days seem far better then we originally thought!
