15th AugWe arrived in Santa Rosa around midday and after waiting ages to get off the boat we finally get to a police man who checks and then confiscates our passports. We were slightly worried and so followed him around for ages until he finally gave them to a local man who took us to get our passports stamped. We grabbed a couple of beers and bbq fish for lçunch with this wiierd dutch guy who tried to start a fight with a drunk local man. We managed to lose him pretty quickly luckily. We stopped at the colombian port where I got off the boat so now I have offically been to colombia but unfortunately not seen any of the actual country. We arrived not long after in the port of Tabatinga, Brazil and were met by an english speaking guy from a local hostel who agreed to help us get our passports sorted out if we stayed at his hostel. We quickly agreed. So far everywhere we had been was spanish speaking and to be honest we had got pretty ok at it. We could book transport, accomodation and buy food. Plus after a while you really start to understand the lanbguage even if you cannot speak that much. Now suddenly we were stuck in a portugese speaking country and couldnt understand anything!Anyway this guy helped us with v]everything and was such a star. We managed to get our money sorted, passports stamped and boat book for the following day all in one afternoon! We spent the evening trying to stay cool. It was 37 degrees and we felt like we were melting. We ate more street food which not surprisingly gets really boring after a while. Its just chicken and rice all the time!
