Hello all!
Seeing as I have a computer and I have an internet connection i will attempt to update you quickly on my past week or so!
Where did I leave you? Stockholm. Ahh, it was tres sad to leave stockholm - I even felt a little stockholm sick when I was walking along the quayside in Paris. Can you believe it?
Okay so I spent a couple of nights with the Surrelius family in smalland. They have a beautiful big old country house, surrounded by forests and close by the lake (though everyone seems to be in walking distance from lakes in this country). We went walking in the forest picking chantarelles and blueberries and flowers, walking past elk and boar tracks. The next day Ian (the eldest in the family) who happens to be a professional soccer player, arrived with 5 of his soccer mates. Made for a noisier, busier, more energetic house for the next two days. Tennis, football/volleyball, and football/golf as well as a bit of wooden Moose shooting and riding on tractors. After such hard work a Sauna was in order, however though Kira and I went ahead we did end up sauna-ing with seven sweaty swedish soccer players. Eh!
Time was up, had to push on down to Lund. Met Joanna and her mother at the station (my swedish exchange student from sydney) and we spent some of the nicest weather my whole trip, in Lund. I went to a legit swedish teen party, intrigued by their gangster/old fashioned swedish rock music taste, but thoroughly impressed with their english and their ability to dance. It was very sad to leave sweden actually. It was a whole month. And their ways have weasled their way into my heart.
But Alas I did leave, for PARIS!
So I'm not complaining. Geena, kymbal and sophie welcomed me to their appartment just a block from the eiffel tower. And out to dinner we went in balmy paris. Spent the next day following Caillie's recommended icecream, chocolate, and hot chocolate places. We got to about 3 but it seemed there was so many others on the way that we could not resist. Seriously I cannot even understand why there are so many chocolate shops in this place but they are literally on every block.
It was a perfect day. And I really need to get out of starbucks and go wondering the streets some more. But I just had to update you a little. I will be meeting Izzy Connelley in Paris this weekend and we shall brave the cheap hostels of paris. As two of the most unorganised people in the world. I cannot tell you where we will go next. Camping on the french coast was an idea. But who knows. The eventual plan in Edinbrough fringe festival and of course london (as I fly out 16th Aug).
Anyone got any ideas for cheap, nice places to go in the french countryside??
