Good day from Christchurch. Im on tour with 49 other of both islands. The problem is all the others are pensioners, and unfortunately I'm not joking. The only advantage is I make it to the front of the queues quicker than everyone else and I do feel very very young! We have had 7 days in the North Island exploring beautiful Bay of Islands, gushing Rotoroa (thermal springs and giesers) and the Waitomo Caves. This is where the first casualty occured. I had anticipated a few heartattacks or similar given the age of the group but so far only one trip to casualty when Cyril, an Auz fighter pilot in the 2nd World war, hit his head on a stalligtite (remember tights come down!) and took a great chunk out of his head. His wife also late 80's, fell down steps. Oh what an adventure tour this is! My birthday was the dullest in my 34 years. We drove for 6 hours from Rotoroa to Wellington and that was abt it. None of the oldies could stay up long enough for a beer. Still I'm now pretending its not my birthday til I get home and that way I stay 33 for a few more months. Some of the habits of the old folk are rubbing off on me, like chewing on wother originals rather loudly and going to teh toilets at every stop. Heres hoping I dont need false teeth soon. The 3 hour ferry ride between North and South Island was stunning scenery but will have to be in my memory only as I managed to drop the camera and break it - must be senility. Had lovely wine tasting and dinner in a Montana winery last night - the latest night yet, bed at 2200! Despite the sarcasm I am having a laugh. The tour director and coach driver seem to have taken a liking to me but I guess that was going to happen given I'm the only one whose breasts arnt quite down to my knees - just yet. I've just remembered our trip in a Gondola in Rotoroa. One of the guys in the group has a false leg, he didnt realise it was stuck in the door of the cable car so it didnt shut properly - was like something from a Monty Python sketch. That and trying to get teh old folk out of the car before it went back down the slope was the funniest day so far. I might go to heaven for my samaritan work! Thanks for the birthday wishes. And for anyone reading my message board, Simon the one who sends stupid messages is my brother. At least mum says he is but I think hes adopted. Gotta go, horlicks to make. Love Annie
