So after one hours sleep and still feeling the effects of the rose wine, it was time to catch a flight. The taxi picked us up at 4.30 from Andi's house and all four of us slept on the way to the airport!
Got to the domestic terminal at Ngurah Rai airport in Denpasar. Checked in and they weighed all of our bags together which I thought was strange! Our flight from Bali to Jogjakarta is costing us 450000 Rupiah (£28) for the hour duration.
Michael didn't get stopped going through security which is always a miracle! We allow 20 minutes extra time for this now as it's inevitable!
Paid 30000 Rupiah (£1.90) as a fee to fly. Don't actually have a clue why but we paid it! I don't need to be in an Asian prison any time soon!
Boarded the flight at 5.30 after having photos outside of the plane! I got the window seat! Yey! I love flying! I could do with my own private jet though as travelling with other travellers is a hassle!
There was a german guy on a different row to us and all four of our gay-dars went off! Alex asked to be moved to his row but was declined! Haha!
Turbulence happens every time we get on a flight. We flew with Lion Air which is the Asian version of Ryan Air I think! Great! Slept for the full flight though so I didn't really care! Lion Air was a roaring laugh! ;)
Landed in Jogjakarta Adisucipto Airport at 6.30, waited for our bags to get off the plane and Alex disappeared! He ran after the German guy to get his number! Passed all the security and body guards! He was determined!
Found him again and got a taxi from the airport to Malioboro. Checked into Lucy Losmen guest house which cost 150000 (£10) for a double room! Same same! The bed was absolutely huge! I have never seen one like it, it could have slept 5 people!
Slept from 8.30 till 11.30 when our alarms woke us up, even though we havnt slept properly we still need to see sights! Got ready and walked down Malioboro Street near where we live! Had Indonesian food at a stall, tried different things! Chicken eggs soaked in syrup, cinnamon flavour fruit and lots of different spices!
The 45 minute bus to Pranbanan Temple cost 3000 (21p), EYMS buses need to learn something from this! The bus stops are different here, they are like train station platforms and the buses are all single deck but tall!
Prambanan Temple is 'the grandest most evocative Hindu temple complex in Java'. It cost 190000 Rupiah (£12.30) to get into which is extortionate!
It has 50 temple sites but many were damaged in the 2006 earthquake, they have reconstructed it though. The Shiva Temple is the biggest one at 47 meters high. The statue of Shiva stands in the central part if the temple. The statue of goddess Durga, Shivas elephant headed son Ganesha and Agastya the teacher also stand in different parts of this temple.
The temples were built in the 9th century AD but the complex was abandoned after it was completed. A lot of the temples collapsed by the 19th century but in 1937 reconstruction started.
We had pictures everywhere, Andi has a professional camera and is a photographer so wanted to take hundreds! We waited for hard hats then went up Shiva Temple, on the way back down a Japanese guy decided to take about 60 photos of me, I'm used to Asian people wanting photo with us but it's usually about 4 not 60! He then went onto telling Alex that we would think about me 3 times that night. Bloody brilliant! Just what I want to hear! Ran all the way back down!
Sun set at the temple was beautiful! Oranges, pinks, yellows and greys! The temple closed at 6 after sun set and we got the local bus home again.
We wanted to get an early night as we didn't sleep but that didn't happen! Walked down Malioboro street which is one big market! Didn't buy anything but I do love markets!
Went to eat at the food court at the top of a shopping mall, had Gado Gado which is my favourite Indonesian dish. There was also a games arcade on the same level, so we had to go in it!
You put money on a card and use that in all the machines instead of putting coins in! We won 183 tokens! Seriously I have no idea how! Had 28 Asians taking photos of the white couple on the air hockey! Most of the games are the same but some are so strange! There was even a karaoke machine box which we did!
Our 183 tokens didn't buy us much, we could only get the cheapest things! A few notepads, a note book, a ring and some fish stickers! Michael has been looking for fish stickers everywhere and was down on his knees begging for them and trading in his ring!
Walked back down Malioboro Street and there was a live Indonesian teenage band playing on the road, stopped to watch for half an hour, they were called MAS BRO and played traditional drums, tambourines and this big instrument that was made from bamboo called Angklung. It was a big like a piano, lots of cords all the way along that the guy hit with a circle piece of wood. It's hard to explain though.
Walked past the Governors Palace which was all lit up! We don't have time to visit this in the day time though. Went to a fried bread stall and Andi got all his favourite things! They were really nice, I love fried bananas!
Got a rickshaw which is like a bicycle with two seats on the front! They have a small engine that kicks in when driving up big hills though!
Got to Sultan Square which is a big field with two huge ancient Rupiah trees enclosed in white engraved walls. A road circles the field and you can hire private light up tuktuk looking things that have big flashing lights and play loud music of your choice. Asian spotty 4 eyed nerds peddling past me listening to 50 Cent were fooling nobody.
The game is you have to walk from point A to point B blindfolded between the two trees in square enclosures. You have to wish something before you set off and hardly anyone does it. Andi said he didn't know or hadn't seen anyone do it! Watch me...
The first time I did it a missed it, walked to the left and past it! Michael did even worse, he set off and did a full semi circle and back onto the road!! You can't tell people if they are doing good or bad though so we just had to talk to him! I cracked up after though!
The second time we did it from in between two other trees about 10 meters closer and I did it! God knows how! This means my wish will come true now! Yeyyy!! Michael still didn't do it, I was taking a photo of how badly he was doing and he walked straight into a lamp post! I didn't even realise... I'm such a good friend!
After this we met the 25 year old German guy from the plane that morning, he teaches medicine here! He speaks better English then me!
Got a rickshaw back to Malioboro street again, Michael and Andi's broke down and the guy had to get out his puncture repair kit! So we drove on and met them when they finally arrived. Waited for them at the round about, had photos with 5 different Asians who wanted pictures with a western girl, this doesn't phase me in the slightest anymore!
When they arrived we walked further down the street and tried Wedang Ronde, which was a hot and spicy ginger soup with cinnamon, lemongrass, peanuts, jack fruit and doe balls which was really nice!
Got home about 2 and realised we had to be up at 6 for the tour tomorrow! Kill me! Pass me the Xanax!
