Annie and Dave's World Tour
We got on the train in Ulan Bator for a 30 hour trip across the border and into Beijing. For the first train trip in about 3 weeks we were not in the same carriage as our Aussie companions (Matt and Patrina). This was probably more of a shock than we had realised, as we had built up a cheeky rapport with them. Even worse, we had been put togther with our arch nemeses, the 'know it all travellers' who had been vexing us on and off for a couple of weeks. The tales were / are too tedious to record here, but generally involved them telling all and sundry what should be done where, and when, etc. 30 hours with them! The horror. We snuck next door from time to time for a chat with Matt and P, who it seemed were also missing us, as we had been 'replaced' by Steve the Leeds fan (whose feet were truly minging, it must be said). But by and large it was another uneventful journey. By not having a cabin with Matt & P we missed out on the joys of their laptop for movies. However, they watched 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas' which was declared to be 'sh*t', so perhaps we didn't miss out too much. [NB let us assure you that you should never, ever consider watching 'Immortal'. That was a stinker] We rolled into Beijing at about 1500 on the Friday afternoon....
