We were up early for breakfast before our pre-arranged tuk-tuk took us out to see the Killing Fields before the sun got too high. This was a sombre expereince which woudl be better described by the offical website (if the link given on their brochure worked). Try this one instead: http://www.killingfieldsmuseum.com/html/genocide_.html
There was, at least, some semblance of peace about the palce in our opinion, as the wind whsipered through the surrounding trees. We turned down our drivers offer of a visit to a shooting range afterwards (to fire Ak-47s) as this did not quite seem appropriate.
After checking out of our hotel, we caught a bus down to Sihanoukville, on the south cost, to sample some beach life. Despite our driver absolutely caning the engine (he almost - almost - drowned out the sickly Cambodian karoake that was blaring out of the VCD player) we didn't get checked into the Lovely Place guesthouse (it does what it says on the tin) till dark, so no time for beach frolics. But we had cheap Anchors on the beach and a great variety of seafood, as the waves crashed in near our feet (very Thai style round here). Our good quality earplugs meant that the vigourous 'how's your father' going on in one of the other rooms did not disrupt us unneccessarily.
