hey and thanks for all the great mails!
though i have not been in quito for long much has already happend to me, adventures that both inlcued stunning sigths, lokal contacts, blood and a great deal of drama. when i first arrived to quito in the eavning, i was so tierred that i went diresctly to bed. the next morning i therefore woke up quite early, 6 am, and quicly hooked up with an ungarian guy.. together we went sigth seeing and had a pleasent day, that ended up on a great regae bar with some other people from the hostel. we were the only guests, and as you proberbly can imagine it din´t stop me from beeing over ensuasiastic apllausing wildly ass the only person in the room.
the next day we went hiking in a mountin nerby. we took a lift up to the higth of 4100 m and walked another 500 m up, stretched over a greater distance. it was no difficult climb, but at the beginning it was quite hard because of the pressure from the higths that made it difficult to breath for unexperienced climpers as me. but as time went by it got easier, and the sigths got more and more beatyfull. bluecollored mountains sweept in soft clouds, green hills with gently mooving grass. from time to another the clouds came roling dovn and swept around the mountain covering everything in a white blanket that made it imposible to se more than 10 m ahead. though we walked very far we did not reach the top, mostly because we vere cold and soked because of the wet thoug, but allso because we began to fell quite lighthheaded and a litle bit dissy caued by the pressure.
when ve came back to the lift the big drama happend. peter witch i was hiking with, walked directly into and all the way through a glasdoor. wee ended up at the hospital, where he got seeved in allmost all parts of his body because of the nasty glasscuts. in wortst shape was the indexfinger inwitch he had half cut his extender tendon, that had to be soved and he allso got a great cut at the nose witch will proberbly give a huge skar. but though it sounds quite dramatic i think it will be allrigth we went to a private clinic and the actede very proffessional. i was quite glad that i had been to medical scholl for a year because it made it musch easier to understand, translate and see what was happening during the cergery.
well that is it for now, i will go out and enjoy the day in quito. tomorow im heading for latacunga, to enter the national park of cotopaxi with has one of the higest peaks coverd in snow in ecuador.
a big hug from anne
