Hi everyone,
Im currently on Koh Samui... which is really nice. It has a hectic main street with people grabbing you to go into places to have Armani suits made, thai massages or even go crazy with some local Ladyboys. Very nice. However, once you get off of the strip you reach a really lovely beach and some absolutely stunning resorts, including one called The Page- think Sandy Lane created by Thailand. So we've spent a few days mooching down the strip to find a place for scrummy banana pancakes for brekky and then collapsed on the beach to lap up some rays. Today we even rented out a jetski for half an hour, which was a crazy experience because it was super wavey and Adam is a biiit of a speed freak :) Though so am I!
Today we went on a Thai cooking course and cooked up some deepfried chicken patties with lemon grass, Chu Che curry, vegetable fried rice and spicy seafood coconut rice. It was absolutely delicious and I cant wait to try it all at home...
The highlight of the trip so far was probably Railay beach though, which is a twenty minute longboat ride from krabi town on the western side of southern thailand. It was an absolutely stunning secluded bayaway through the forest, which you could only reach by walking past a big group of monkeys. It was so surreal (but nice), they were amazingly cute and dosile, and didnt seem phased by our presence at all... one evening we even came back to our resort to find a big bunch of them swinging around on the telephone wires and eating pineapples on the roofs of the bungalows. We also found an amazing restaurant called the Rock, which was a bit of a sweaty hike up a hill but had stunning views of the bay and the limestone cliffs surrounding it. We sampled what was probably the most tasty banana pancakes there- notice the breakfast theme. This was the restaurant that introduced us to the fine delicacy that they are.
In the evening the sun set right in the middle of the bay and one of the beach bars set out a dozen straw mats on the beach and some candles so we lay on those drinking rum and coke (or Tiger beer) and stargazing. These were probably two of the best nights of my life.
Right now we have just finished eating so are a tad full, and about to perhaps go for our first thaiii massaaaaage... then catch some sleep before tomorrow morning we head to the waterfalls and temples in the middle of the island. Apparently there are also some brilliant genitalia shaped rocks somewhere that I am keen to have a giggle at. They are called grandfather and grandmother rock, so one rock is phalic, and the other is self explanatory. I considered buying Anna O'Dell one of these postcards.
After this we'll jet to Ko Tao or Ko Phangan. Veeerrry excited.
Hopefully I wont take so long to blog y'all next time. If I do do not feel unloved, I am missing and loving you all. X
