Ann & Sal's Adventures!
Hello All,
Since our last update we have mostly been navigating our way around the south island and are now ready to cross to the north tomorrow if the ferrys are running (it being easter)
Sal and Jen went white water rafting in Queenstown but Ann decided to give the ice cold rapids a swerve! After leaving Queenstown we headed to Milford Sounds and went on a boat tour of the many waterfalls and got to see the seals up close.
After Milford Sounds we had to head back to Queenstown (the limited road infrastructure in the south means that ALL roads lead to Queenstown) and then made our may to Franz Josef. We stopped at another lake, this time lake Wanaka on the way.
On Friday we did a half day hike of the Fox Glacier which was tiring but worth it. Ann yet again found navigation on the slopes and rocks difficult, she found the best technique was clambering about on all fours for most of the time!
Had a night out in Nelson last night which was interesting (ponte carlo with Mauri's). The highlight being a curry at the Thai restaurant.
Life in the spaceship with three backpacks and camping equipment (gas stove, fridge, dvd and the kripton factor bed of guaranteed insomnia) is a bit of a squeeze!
So far we have woken up in, a car park, THE remotest lake in NZ and the Kiwi equivalent of dingles farm yard.
Happy Easter
Ann and Sal
