Well, my first blog entry. I have travels under my belt, but nothing in writing. I have to say, I do regret not keep journals. I guess I was too young and dumb to care about all that, but from now on, I will keep an updated journal of wherever I go and whatever I do and whoever I meet.
No traveling for me right now. I'm stuck in rainy South Carolina studying at school. Graduate in May, baby! No more school...the world awaits. I wanted to have a good education so that I can actually do something with my life. I'm debating whether to teach in China or Korea...one draws me more, while the other pays more. I could use the money to pay off school debt and save, or I could be where my heart it. We'll see, but I have time.
What's my upcoming journey? Europe. The familiar travel destination for many young and older people alike. Everyone dreams of traveling abroad...I'm no exception. I don't want fancy hotels and 5 course dinners and first class seats...I want a backpack, a good friend, hostels and homes, cheap and real cuisine, a train, and an ipod. Take me back to the good ole days and away from the tourist sites to places that are seldom visited by tourists but where stragers are welcomed with open arms. Once I save enough (oh, maybe 2500) I'll go there and do that for a month or so. I would love to go longer, but time is still a factor in my life, however annoying that may be.
I up for the real, grungy, down to earth travel experience that some turn up their noses to. How else are you going to see the world as it's meant to be. THe way the locals live it every day. The things that are genuine and not as sought after because no one knows they exist. Take me there and set me loose. I'm not afraid of strangers, weird foods, crazy places, or spontaeous human combusition (well, that's a little weird...) I want to bunjy jump, go on a safari, climb the Swiss Alps, hang out with a sheep dog in Scotland, see Pompeii, eat pizza in Italy...later on I'll post my list of things to accomplish. Until then...peace.
