Anna's Adventures
today was amazing we did a 3/4 day tour up the franz josef glaicer, we spent around 4 hours walking around the ice it was an utterly surreal experience like being on another planet, the guide we had, had to carve steps out in the ice as we went along, as the glacier changes constantly and although the guides know where they are due to the rock formations there are new bits of ice they have never seen before every day as it changes so often, it was quite a tough climb to 550m above sea level, which wasnt even half way to the top, if we had wanted to walk to the top it would of taken us two days - it is huge. we also got to wear crampons which are spikes on your boots so we wouldnt slip on the ice this is cool little place with loads of backpackers and is very pretty
