Anna's travels
So the last time i updated this was just after the Full moon party i think. After that we hoped across to another island called Koh Toa. Not much to report form here...Van did her Padi and i watched alot of films as guess what, It rained!!
After this we had a very bad ferry crossing, really rough!! no vomming tho, and then a night train to the border with Malaysia. We met up with our mates Beth and Leanna and hurried across to the most stunning islands. The Perhentian Islands certainly made up for Thialand. Crystal clear water and golden beaches all the way. On the first day we had a bit of rain and so i did my first ever snorkelling. It was amazing so many little fisheys. Vanessa did 3 dives here, its supposed to have some of the best dive sites in the world, so i even gave it a go. Can you imagine me scuba diving? No neither could i! it did take me two goes, and second time i went out on my own with cindy our instructor. This was much better and i loved it. I never imagined i would see so much, all the colours and different fish i even saw a turtle when i got back in the boat. I dived to 12meters, which i think is quite impressive for me...'little miss i hate fish!'. Photos as proof will follow.
So after a few days of trying to top up the tan, (i started on the oil, its a must im just too white!!!) we took another 12hour journey to the rainforest. We stayed in a place called Taman Nagera, its the oldest rainforest ever or summit. We stayed in a very colourful guesthouse right next to a mosque. Van and i enjoyed listening to the call od prayer etc, actually wihout sounding like i total geek, im enjoing being in an islamic country, the culture etc. The people speak really good english and are so friendly, the only downside is NO BEER!!!(we actually did a detox of 7 days)
Anyway in Taman Nagera, i was again very adventurous and i did a Canopy Walk. The longest in the world, so they tell me. It was pretty scary being that high up but we got some very good views of the rainforest and did a little Trek after. In the afternoon i visited an aborigine village which was smashing, dead interesting. The other girls went climbing through small holes in Bat caves and came back covered in bat poo and piss so im glad i sat that one out.
We have not got alot of time in Malaysia which is a shame coz im loving it here, so it was back on the bus to the Cameron highlands. This is where i am now. I love it here, its alot cooler and stunning. We are staying in a great guesthouse, our room was an army air raid shelter during WW2. Its a bit like being on brownie camp, shared bathrooms and walks through the woods. The area has alot of tea plantations and so its famous for its cream tea, something im loving. A proper brew with hot scones on a sofa, its amazing!
Today we went to a famous tea plantation, saw the tea plant fields and had amuddy hike through a mossy forest where we saw all sorts of plants etc. Really enjoyed it, perhaps i could be a botanist on my return!
Tomorrow we are heading to Kuala Lumpa for 2 days then singapore for 2 days, then its oz....
Will keep you posted!
All the best.
