KIA ORA (this means welcome)! We are in smelly Rotorua! It smells like bad eggs here. Its because of the geysers popping up all over the place!
Anyway, we have had a great time here and we are leaving early in the morning. Yesterday we went to Rotorua museum. It was really good as we learnt a lot about the history of Rotorua and why it smells!
We went to a Maori evening which was set in a Maori village. They renacted when the musket was introduced to New Zealand and the traditions of the Maori. We had a tradition Maori feast called a 'hangi', which was cooked in a traditional oven, They are underground and they use hot rocks, it takes 7 hours to cook food on. We watched them dance the Haka and sing songs. We all had a great time and we learnt a lot about the history of the Maori's.
We went zorbing today, which was amazing. Me, Anita and Naomi all came down together in a wet zorb! It was so much fun and we had no injuries! The boys came down together too. We had to jump through a small hole to get in and then when we got out we sort of gushed out! After we went on a gondala and luging down the hill. It was so much fun. On the first run I went so fast and came round the corner far too quickly, i thought I was going to end up in the bush. The second time round we all felt a bit brave and decided to do the intermediate track, it had lots more hills in and we all went so fast but it was amazing.
Last night we had a BBQ in the park which was really cool. We left it a bit late to cook the food, so we had to produce the torches to help us pack up! We are now about to make some food in the hostel for tea.
Anyway, we are 'sweet as'! Will post again after our adventures in Waitomo! So 'aroha nui' (goodbye)! x
