Good Morning Vietnam! We left Cambodia around 11.30am from our guest house in Phnom Penh. We opted for Sampaco bus, and it was a lovely ride, nice clean comfy coach and a very quick smooth journey into Ho Chi Minh City. Passport control was quick and once all the formalaties were done we were back on the coach and heading to Ho Chi Minh. We arrived in good time at 5pm. We were so lucky as the coach terminated at the local bus depot which was round the corner from where I had booked our accommodation for the next few nights, buzzing, we just walked for 5 minutes and we were there. They greated us with lovely warm smiles and a very pleasant attitude, we were worried as we had been speaking to other travellers which said the Vietnamese people were not so nice and very rude. This was not the case in Ho Chi Minh, they are awesome people, dead smiley and friendly to everyone we spoke to or who served us. We just loved HCMC, all the crazy traffic, and 6 million motorbikes, it was brilliant. We booked a motorbike tour one evening, XO Tours, they were great, all the drivers are female, and you have a choice of 3 different tours to do, we chose the 'Saigon by night' tour. They picked us up from our hotel at 6pm and off we went. Such a blast going around the city at night on the back of a bike, being in the madness of all the traffic, so much fun. They took us to all different districts of HCMC which tourists do not get to see. They also took us out for some street food which was delish! Their boss, Tu, also met us out at different parts of the tour, took some pics of us and told us the background and history of the different districts which we visited. Anyone who visits HCMC must do an XO Tour, the girls are lovely and speak really good English.
The rest of our time in HCMC we visited the war museum, Palace of reunification, China Town, the Chinese market, Post Office, and many more. We also took a day trip to the Cu Chi tunels which was facinating stuff.
We have found Pho, and we are now in love with the dish. Yum.
I was very sad to leave Ho Chi Minh and we did stay an extra 3 days longer than planned. We eventually had to move on, and booked the bus to Mui Ne, I wanted a beach and some relaxation time. x
