We have been in the "Sacred Valley" for the past three days. It is beautiful, and the weather is fabulous! We had a hard time getting here with delays in our airplane from Easter Island, and a taxi driver that we couldn't communicate with.
Yesterday, we went to Machu Picchu. The train to town was about one and a half hours, pure beauty. The Andes mountains are a site. After taking the scariest bus to the entrance of Machu Picchu, we finally got see what we came for. It is an amazing site. I recommend it to anyone! A lot of walking and stairs, but worth it. We had lunch at the Machu Picchu Sanctuary lodge ($1000 per night to stay there, no thanks!). It was alright, but we probably would have been just as satisfied with the hot dog and ice cream cone we could have got at the concession stand.
Today, we head back to Cuzco, and catch a flight for Lima in the morning. Looking forward to being back on American ground come Tuesday! There are so many things that we take for granted, that we don't even realize is a luxury to others. Great experience here in South America!
