Today started with free time until 11am. Despite not having a 6am wake up call I think a fair few of us were awake around then anyway. We could at least enjoy breakfast at a leisurely pace and then go and explore the local area.
We all met up at 11am to make our way to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. This was a place I had been before but it was great to visit again. It felt more relaxed because I wasn't trying to take too much in as it wasn't completely new. The vastness though is still amazing and just about impossible to describe.
This year they have opened up another section of the Forbidden City which has never been open before so it was lovely to see another aspect. This included a sculpture museum with pieces dating back to the 4th century. I really enjoyed that not least because it was inside and very cool. Another hot day but we did have a strong cool breeze at times which was very welcome.
We are now heading for the Silk Factory but I think that will take some time as we are in the middle of peak hour traffic.
We are now on our way back to the hotel after our trip to the silk factory. More money spent. The meat eaters in the group are looking forward to Peking duck for dinner. Some of the group are also having a massage tonight. Lily has arranged for masseurs to come to the hotel although due to the lateness of having dinner the time has been put back.
Tomorrow is our final day and we are going to the Temple of Heaven in the morning. In the afternoon we are going to the Hutongs and some of the group are watching a Kungfu show in the evening. After that we are being driven to the airport for our flights home.
