Tour D' Hoi An
We had some time to kill so we grabbed the bikes from the hotel and decided to go for a cycle. The bikes here look like they came out of the 70's, they have a basket, a bell and are made for people at the maximum height of 4ft 5" - My knees go above the handlebars when I peddle!
It doesn't take much more than 10 minutes of cycling before you end up away from the town. We chose to find a coconut plantation that was shown on the map we had, as you would imagine there are lots of trees with coconuts on them. I was rather disappointed to find out there isn't a man at the end with a machete offering you some coconut water. I also don't feel like I could sit on a hard seat for a few days!
For lunch we got a take out from Madam Kahn 'Bahn Mi Queen' another trip advisor recommendation. It's a small cart selling some kind of mest and egg filled herby baguettes. It cost 30,000 VND for that and some water and was fantastic, not sure what the sauce was but it would run rings around Subway any day. Probably best we found this on the last day in Hoi An, otherwise it would have been my lunch everyday!
That evening on the way to dinner I think I managed to stop Tash from pulling us into the river by the Japanese Bridge. You can only go over it with a ticket which we didn't have so you can step down the side, walk along one of the two tiers of concrete next to the water and go over another water crossing. As I stepped down I noticed it was steep. Being the gentleman I am I decided to hold Tash's hand to help her down (she didn't notice how steep it was) and she fell towards the water almost taking me with her. Pretty close! The near miss is a much better story than us falling in.
I'm also enjoying the comments and feedback you are all giving me. Makes it feel like I'm not talking to myself!
