Dont really know were to start with our bus trip to Laos but wel try so we got picked up in a lovely mini van (nice start) one hour to the border changed mini vans three times in some deserted dusty roads eventually made it to the border where we got kicked out in the pissing down with rain, scrambled our huge backpacks onboard a longtail boat, both slipped fell in the mud much to the amusement of the pristine thai ladys who so gracefully got on....ok so seated and off across the river we went....trying to get out was another palava but eventually made it to the guy sorted our visas then started to look for our guide as our bus was about to leave any minute.... being the only two people left we started to get a bit worried but eventually some guy came yelling and we guessed he was aiming it at us,we had to run with the guy up a huge hill got into the minivan and off we went, arrived at anoter bus station and boarded a very extinct looking coach with the smallest seats in the world we were not very optimistic about the 24 hour bus trip as you can imagine,we got given sick bags, cakes and the usual boiling hot water...the cakes were infested with ants as our not yet new friend laura was soon to find out haha. Off we went all i can say is basically it was the worst bus trip of our lives turned out to be 28 hours on the stinking bus no stops anywhere(which was ok with us as we had no money) just get out and pee in the forest or off the side of the cliff!Everyone thought we were going to die at some point and it truely was horrific....it was like driving around a mini round about at the top of the highest cliff being stuck in a permanent pothole!
We arrived safe and sound much to our suprise got a songawatt to the main street settled in the 5th guesthouse we'd seen and had a long awaited shower!Luang Prabang was a very beautiful place it is as it says a romantic town full of golden robed monks!Who i may add give you a few very cheeky smiles here and there :).So we spent our time cafe hopping and wondering around, watching the locals playing in the river and climbing the cliffs, visit a very high up steep temple and see the kids orphanage which we unfortunatley just checked out through the window as we had no gifts to offer :( and then of course the night market which was actually for a small town really good! Next stop Vang Vien Tubing here we come.......
