Buffalo. :(
Once again we were woken up by a policeman knocking on Bertha's window at 8.30am to 'check if we are OK.' Which we were until he rudely woke us up. It is however very considerate of the US tax payer to fund our own personal alarm clock. We wondered whether he provided the same service to the 4 or 5 other travellers parked there or the Jesus bus which was covered from tip to tail in slogans. The police car then proceeded to wait until we left so we annoyed him by going into Walmart. After this it was time to find a garage as the many miles have taken their toll on Bertha who now makes an awful noise every time you turn the wheel. While she was being looked at Mae went across the street to get her legs waxed and learned a valuable lesson to ask the price before getting anything done as they attempted to charge her $70 for something they were neither equipped nor prepared to do, so she refused to pay it! This caused a half hour argument where she finally settled on an outrageous $50 to avoid police involvement as we dion't know consumer right laws in the US. We came back to the garage to find that Bertha had a worn ball joint and loose right wheel bearing. We opted not to pay $1000 to get it fixed her and instead contacted Mario who as usual knew someone in New Jersey who would be able to fix it. After a quick trip to Sear to pick a new pair of shorts and two dresses for Mae, as well as some McDonalds smoothies on sale for 27c from 7am-7pm that day. These were delicious and we decided to have 2 each. After successfully avoiding the 10 chicken nugget meal on sale for $3.99 (about £2.50 including drink and chips) We were on our way to New York. We drove for 5 hours or so until we got onto the interstate where there were proper rest stops. After cooking Chicken Chow Mein in a can. (Very nice actually) and sharing a bottle of Chianti Superior from Italy (picked up from CostCo for $7.99) with some proper Cheese imported from Ireland as the Americans can't make it and good Chocolate brought over by my sister as they can't make that either. We went to sleep.
