Driving throught the Everglades.
Not a very exciting day today really, we drove from the rest stop into the Everglades for a couple of hundred miles eventually reaching Busch Gardens where we stopped to get some food at IHOP! The road was very long, very hot and very straight, there was a river or canal that ran alongside it most of the time that helped to provide some entertainment as there were various birds sitting along the edge, herons, pelicans, cranes etc. But other than this it was incredibly dull, the landscape as you can imagine was flat, with palm tree hedges either side of the road and not much else to see.
When we stopped at IHOP it was a welcome relief to get out of the heat for a while as not only was it a cloudless yet muggy day but our sunburn was keeping us considerably warm also. Once we'd enjoyed our meals and felt a bit cooler we continued our journey into Orlando where we looked for a McDonalds to use the wifi. After unsuccessfully trying to book a cheap room for the night ($28) , we settled for booking it for the following 2 nights instead and it still being relatively early decided to have a look round a very large shopping mall we'd passed. The place was all on the ground floor and was massive considering it was in the middle of the town, the car parks for it were even bigger!! After looking round and me getting a new red salsa dress :))) it was closing time, 9pm as it was Sunday, usually open till 11!! From here we made our way out of the city centre to a rest stop about 20 miles away.
