Ok, so I've been downunder now for a week now...and it's been great. Smooth flight over once again with Emirates (apart from one croissant related incident...more on that later) Didn't sleep at all on the flight over, so as you can imagine I made good use of the films on board. Arrived in Sydney around 7am thinking it was some time in the late afternoon (as was made evident when I walked into my first dorm all loud and giddy whilst everyone was asleep, me thinking - LAZY!) ended up staying awake all day and zoned into a zombie like state and proceeded to take on a massive walk round Sydney in the heat of the midday sun...yeah.
Sydney is a beautiful place, very modern, very built up. To be honest far from what I was expecting, I'm not sure why but I was expecting quite a laid back, almost beachy feel but it's very 'New York' stylee (not that i've ever been) Lots of people in lots of suits drinking lots of coffee rushing lots of places...I'm growing used to it though, it's MASSIVELY expensive, god help anyone who comes to Sydney from Asia! Saying that it does have a lovely park and gardens which are great for a chill out and a picnic (and to watch half of the population of sydney jogging, as they all seem to be super fit! Almost makes you feel bad. Almost)
Spent alot of time around the opera house and the harbour bridge, absolutely beautiful! All the harbours are stunning in fact. Spent two days on Bondi (one where the heavens opened as soon as our toes touched the sand!) Also spent time on Coogee beach which is just as nice as Bondi, but loads quieter!
Got a few days left in Sydney then off to Crescent Head for a few days to surf from Friday, just booked travel up the East coast via Oz Experience, a 12 month ticket to make my way up to Cairns. Already got a few contacts up the east coast so hopefully I can see some people and meet many many more on the way up the coast!! Travelling via a back backer bus, so I doubt that that will be a problem!
Anyway gotta go...more later.
