So we are now into day. 4 and waking up in our little caravan set amongst trees caravans and a mix of tents.
Our caravan is in a good location no lake views but everything we need is just a very short walk away, for example the lovely swimming pool, shop and a place to get an ice cream or two for the kids.
This park really is very nice, it's also very clean and they even ask that you recycle your rubbish.
This is the first time we have split up as a group the two older girls going down to the shores of the lake to sunbathe and the rest of us going to make the most of the lovely swimming pool. The pool is closed between 1 and 3pm
I guess for a siesta.
After a morning at the pool we made lunch and joined up with the girls down at the lake. One thing we have noticed is how the very mature lady dresses in skimpy swim ware I guess that's Italy for you.
Down on the lake the views are stunning and we very much hope to come back here one day,
After our basic lunch consisting mainly of cheese rolls, crisps and fruit we went for a swim in the lake ( it is that big it has waves and the feel of a sea about it except you don't get these stunning views sunbathing on Brighton beach !
The lake has old wooden piers which reach out into the lake and are perfect for jumping or diving off into the lake from (I jumped off although no one else did in our group. We did however watch some brave kids dive and somersault off the end...and then there was the point that Josie accidentally fell off the pier and into the lake which was very funny and would have almost certainly made it on you've been framed had it been caught on camera...she was fine just damaged pride.
I hadn't swam in a lake since a trip to Canada in 1980 so it was great to do this again.
There was plenty of watercraft on the lake mainly the rich with their speedboats and the occasional large pleasure boat but none of this was intrusive or spoiled our enjoyment of the lake. We did ponder the idea of a boat trip on the lake ourselves but without the use of a car it seemed too complicated and would mean throwing more money away on taxis too so we thought better of it.
After lunch we were back at the bustling pool. It is always busy but good fun, occasionally they run an exercise class in the pool the group mainly consisting of middle aged ladies although I did spot one old bronzed gent at the back bless him.
Mid afternoon we felt the need for an icecream (tryou are not allowed to eat any food within the swimming pool area- Alex our teenager got told off by the lifeguard. Anyway on the positive side of things 4 ice creams including 2 Magnums totalled just 6 Euros. ( around £4.50) you wouldn't get two for that back in the UK.
Eventually we left the pool and I think it's fair to say we all over did it on the tan today.. Typical Brits on tour behaviour.
Tonight's dinner was home made - you won't be surprised that it was a pasta dish which was cheap to make and actually very nice.Because of our City trips we are wildly overspent so it's good to have a couple of days underspending the budget.
The rest of the evening was spent outside of our caravan with the usual chatting, card playing, snacking and drinking not to mention reading mirror our books Bridget Jones for Josie and Roy Keane - The second half for me. A perfect evening and grata to spend some quality time as a family.
At 11pm it was time to turn in ready for a second and final day at Lake Garda tomorrow. Zzzzzz.
