On our local bus to Varanassiwe had to stop due to a car crash killing 2 people, illustrating the dangers of the road in India. Back on the bus Sarah had a pack of crisps only 3 weeks out of date, I was so jealous. Arriving at the Hotel Pradeep we ate at the Eden Top restaurant before looking round a market and textiles shop where we all purchased something, even me much to my suprise, later that evening we went to watch the Hindus worship on the River Ganges. The reastaurant we ate at was so far from the hotel we had another sketchy tuk-tuk ride home. The tragic news of Gavin has only just reached India( 30th November) and i am very shocked and saddened by the news and the tabloids coverage of it! We woke at 5.30 to see the sun rise on the river Ganges by boat, which was truly amazing. The holy water is used like a communal bathroom, people swimming unaware that even us English were very cold. The rest of the day was spent lazing around visiting the Haifa hotel a further 2 times for breakfast and supper. Like many others around the world I woke to open my advent calendar (thanks mum). After another lazy day we caught the over night train. Supposedly lasting 12 hours, we finally arriving 16 hours later at 11on Saturday 2 December, surviving the snoring, farting and spitting from the locals.
