I'm afraid it's felt like a relatively inactive week compared to other ones recently. I got the Oz bus onto Rainbow Beach on Monday night, and was back on it at 8 the next morning with nothing significant to note. Next stop was Noosa after a days driving and another highly uneventful night followed. Here's where we get to the good bit, we arrived at Surf Camp midday and pretty much straight away were being prepped for our surf lesson in the afternoon. Wetsuits were on offer and they advised we make use of them but i thought i could never forgive myself if my first surfing experience wasn't in a pair of ridiculous hawaiian shorts! The surfing was absolutely brilliant though and i'm definetly going to give it a go wherever possible in future. The surf camp was in quite a remote area so the group and the surf instructors + a few others headed into the nearest establishment for some merriment. . I ended up playing pool against a few of the blokes in the group and managed to win a couple of games against them. Stakes were then suggested, loser buys the next drink. I then proceeded to win 5 of the next 6 games and couldn't keep up with the flow of drinks which certainly didn't make getting up at 5.30 thursday morning for the bus very easy!! The destination was now Sydney and we arrived early evening and got set up in a well located huge central hostel. Sydney is a lot bigger than i thought it would be but having visited the opera house and harbour bridge on a dismal friday morning, it soon became apparent that as a low spending traveller the endless shops were not going to keep us busy. It's therefore been a few days of recuperation in anticipation of the 2 weeks of non stop activities in NZ. Our flights 8 o clock tomorrow morning so we'll be having an early one tonight. 10 weeks seemed such a long time before i left but here we are on the brink of being halfway through and it suddenly doesn't seem so long!
