After a fantastic two weeks in the south island we had high hopes for the north but it defiantly wasn't as good. I mean we still had a good time and there was a few things worth visiting but wasn't wowed so often as in the south. The ferry crossing was pretty fast with some good views, we arrived in Wellington early enough to find a camp site. Wellington was ok I think it was due to the rain that put a dampener on things. The museum is well worth visiting it was really good and I don't usually like stuff like that but it was really interesting. We also visited hula falls in Taupo which was impressive and the honeyhive farm were we got loads of free samples of beers, wine and liquours with honey in.I didn't think I liked honey but I did that day. Next we headed to Rotorua up the thermal explorer highway and stopped at Orakei Koraka first. We didn't expect to pay so much for something so natural but it was amazing. The thermal park was full of mud pools and bubbling hot streams, it was very cool. But the best place for all that was Te puia. It had the famous geysers and a kiwi house too, plus it was full of facts on the maori culture and we even got to see a culture performance where all the blokes did the haka. I love seeing all the women dancing to the music it really makes you smile. Next was Waitimo caves and if it wasn't for seeing the glow worms we wouldn't of gone,it was quite and small. Althogh seeing the glow worms for the first time was really magical, it was like looking up on a dark night and seeing thousands of stars,we really enjoyed that. I think if we knew now we would of spent a few more days on the south instead, there was lots more to see and the scenery was alot nicer.we found the north abit boring but we just filled are days eating fresh new zealand mussels, and it's true what they say there the best in the world but so cheap.
