After arriving back in Cairns Nadine and I checked into the "Corona" backpackers I booked in for two nights and Nadine booked in for 1 night as she was leaving the next morning to go south.
The next day Nadine and I said our goodbyes and I was back to traveling on my own again.
That evening I went to the "Woolshed" for dinner (as there was a voucher system that all the Cairns hostels used to give a Free dinner meal)
As I was eating my dinner I started chatting to a Dutch guy named Jim we chatted for quite awhile and after we had both finnished our meal we left at the same time, just outside the woolshed Jim saw someone he knew and introduced me to Jamie a Scottish backpacker.
Jamie and I got talking about balloon tying and both Jim and Jamie were both keen to learn so I offered to teach them. I told the guys to meet me at a local pub and I went and got the balloons from the hostel.
I sat and taught the guys alot of balloon stuff which took a few hours and I was quite impressed at how quickly they picked it up. Because the aim was to teach them to make money while traveling I suggested that they come balloon tying on the street with me the next day, they were both very keen.
So the next day we met up in the centre of Cairns, both Jamie and Jim had dressed up Jim as a sailor and Jamie as superman and I had my clown gear. We went down to the local pool and set up and while it was extremely quite we did make $20 and I was quite proud of the boys with how well they could make the flowers , dogs, giraffes and even learnt the koala bear!
They told me about their hostel the "Woodduck" which Jamie worked in and the next day I moved out of the "Corona" and into the "Woodduck".
Over the next few days I didn't do to much besides hang out with the other people from the backpackers at the lagoon and spent some days sleeping all day.
I did get to play alot of Chess with Jamie (A really smart guy with a great personality) and Jamie and I had some great philosophical conversations as well as one great chat about the Star Trek Universe.
It rained alot in that last week and I decided as alot of locals had been telling me that the rainy season had come early and that it would keep raining daily for the next few months, that I would leave Cairns earlier than I expected.
So I booked my ticket back to Sydney.
And for the moment that is were my travels will have to be put on hold for awhile as I have my operation.
