Start spreading the news, I'm leaving today.
I easily navigated my way on the subway to my hostel just before he storm was ment to hit. Using the couple or so hours before hand I walked through Central Park, had some food and stocked up on water and things we could eat if we lost power and got stuck in the hostel. Having no real choice to we made good friends with the other people hiding from the storm here. The 7 of us that were there decided to make the whole experience more fun we should camp out in the common room. So 7 mattresses later and about 5 DVDs we waited it out for the night. That first night wasn't bad at all. Next day we went walking, not far I mean there was no subways or transport. Streets were empty and all shops closed. That night was the worst night but in Upper New York and Harlem it wasn't a real issue. But walking and biking downtown the next day and you could really see just how hard the city had been hit. Having said that they have just pushed on like nothing and gone back to the old ways.
Since the storm cleared I've seen most of the sites. Statue of Liberty, Time Square, walked broadway, Madison Square Gardens, State Library and eaten some big pieces of pizza for a dollar! It's crazy big but it's great just to sit and people watch. I do really like he city just didn't pick the best time to visit maybe.

Nanna & Grandad Hi Andrew. Glad you survived the storm. Must have been an experience. We liked New York too, shame you had to visit at the wrong moment. Sounds like you are making the most of your time however, no matter what. Keep enjoying, look forward to further reports. Stay safe.
