Andy and Cate Around the World in 80 Days
Well its raining a lot. Cate and I went into placement today and met the secretary to Cate\'s consultant. She was very nice and helpful but there doesn\'t seem to be any one about, i\'ll have to go in on Friday i think but i\'m only going on for the morning because we\'re off on a jolly to the beach in the afternoon so i\'m sure i\'ll see some one soon!
Went to the main campus in St Augustine in the arvo with Jenny and Sarah from Leicester uni to pay our hall fees. We\'ve only paid 4 weeks so we can spend a week in tobago, the paradise island! It took a good half hour to find the right department, (the theme of the carribean, everything is slow!) and then had a look arounf the uni, perhaps looking for some food or maybe even a drink, found a KFC, subway and marios pizza. Not the authentic cuisine we were hoping for! I ventured further out of the campus and found a roti shop. Roti IS authentic and very cheap. When i entered the shop, which i\'m sure didn\'t have health and safty certificates, or electricity, the guy behind the counter (and metal bars) threw his empty cigarette packet at me (?) still not sure why. Anyhow, i bought a chiken roti. The choice was chicken, vegetable, potato, goat and liver and gizzard! was a difficult choice i can tell you! Don\'t know what a gizzard is and i don\'t think i want to!
It turned out that a roti is a chick pea and potato curry thing wrapped in a stringy doughy bread. A bit like a tortilla but thicker and a bit more stringy. The chicken was still on the bone which nearly broke my teeth but it was alright and it only cost a quid. Should keep me going till tomorrow. Was nice but think i need to try another one from somewhere else! Bit concerned it mite upset me but we\'ll see!
