Amsterdam, Netherlands
What an amazing journey it has been so far.... What i expected to see is completely different to what i have been exposed to since having come to this beautiful part of the world. Lets start at the beginning,
Amsterdam
Getting off the train into Amsterdam Central Station was definately an eye opener. There were people everywhere walking in every different direction and i'd never seen so many bikes!! There was literally a parking lot to my right that was two stories high.... it was choc a block full of push bikes.
It was daunting getting off the train in a country that i'd never been to before, on my own and without knowing the deutch language. It took about 27hrs to get from home and i was exhausted.... I had about 10% battery left on my iphone which had my GPS and address for the hostel. I punched in the directions and off i went with all my gear and then the phone just went kaput. Here i was with no directions just an address that i'd luckily written down 10 mins prior.
Off i went walking in what turned out to be the wrong direction. I stopped and stood there on the corner and marvelled at the mahem infront of me, cars, push bikes and people going in all directions. I hailed a taxi and pointed at the address.... He was a rather polite chap and dropped me at the end of my desired street.
There my compadres were with their feet up on the tables of a closed cafe eating a bag of baby carrots... i sat down at their table and smiled at my accomplishment to finally arrive at what i had been working towards for so long - the start of my epic journey.
