Pretty relaxing day yesterday. Did a load of laundry in my apartment and got a few groceries at the corner store. The
cover photo is looking out a window here. Then I headed to the tour office to pay my way for the ferry across the Black Sea Friday. Got lost a couple times. Then one of the people I asked for directions was nice enough to give me a ride, to the wrong part of town! A German I asked (thought he was a local), who spoke no English, knew where I wanted to get to and told me four hundred Hryvnia (pronounced grivna) by taxi.
Then I stopped at a Mexican restaurant and had a Mexican omelet. No refried beans or tamales in sight, not even salsa. Kind of a disappointment.
Then walked around town for a good while, took in the sights, snapped a few pictures. This place is a big city compared to Feodosia but not as big as Kiev, though pretty well off as it's the major port. Found a tourist office and booked a trip for today to the catacombs. I read somewhere that it's one of the largest in the world. Several people get lost there every year, supposedly, when they go without a guide.
Went home to take a shower, no water. Grrr. Snacked. Changed into shorts and walked to the beach. Not a very fine sand, lots of broken shells. Got totally lost, again, on the way home so I grabbed another cab. Showered and went out to dinner. Easy peasie. Early evening. Woke early and the water was off again. At six it's back on.
Tomorrow I have the day off. Day after that I'm on the ferry to Istanbul. I'm guessing the ferry has no wifi.
