Three days on a Canal Boat!! What to say about that ...haha. There were good times and there were bad times. 5 people living in a very narrow boat under 'sometimes' stressful situations. While Mike was still adjusting to the steering we came across an angry young man who wasn't very kind when we almost bumped into him. Mike managed to reverse back and prevent an accident but the angry young man still kept muttering what an a***hole Mike was. That was our first 1/2 hour.
By the time we had been going for an hour or so Mike was more confident and we 'motored' down the canal.
We spent our first night at Newbold and took the boys for their first pub meal. We were all asleep by 7.00. Must've been the canal air!! The next day we travelled down to Braunston and had a walk around the village before we found a place to do a 3 point turn in the boat so we could return. We spent our second night in Braunston and had another pub meal.....very nice.
On our last day we travelled to the village of Rugby to have a look around and then parked up so we could have a meal on the boat. (Thank you Wendy and Diana for the veges!) We had them with our sainsbury sausages, which worked out to be 6p each...and they were very nice.
It was fun most of the time. The boys worked the locks for Mike and they all had a turn steering the boat. I was happy to make coffee and sandwiches.
I don't like having to scrimp on water.....toilet use was rationed, water for the shower was rationed and the blow dryer blew cold air. I was happy to get off that boat!
