Paris - Day One
Today we set off to use the Metro for the first time. We took off without really preparing because our internet access wasn't sorted. Once we got over the embarrassement of not understanding the system, (and needing someone to help,) we were off. The boys were really excited about seeing the Eiffel Tower and they weren't diappointed. The looks on their faces were priceless...I think they were expecting to see a little iron structure. We all went to level two but only Mike, George and Ben went to the top.
While Jack and I waited we watched a pick pocket doing the rounds trying to find a victim....we had worked out he had already tried it on me when we were in the shop. I was pushed forward while looking at the souvenirs, at the time I thought he was just rude and it was strange how he just left the shop. I then discovered the zip on my backpack was undone. (He obviously didn't like the ham rolls or bananas.)
When I saw him targeting a man and getting close to pinching his wallet I followed him and spoke the guy he was trying to pick pocket. When the man disappeared the pickpocket asked me if I wanted my photo taken.....I'll never do that again. Jack says you should never be a hero in a country you don't speak the language. I think he's right.
All in all though we had a good day. We've got our own apartment that we can cook in and plenty of space to relax in.
Day Two
Today we walked up the Champs-Elysees, stopped for coffee and hot chocolate, then watched the traffic go round the Arc de Triomphe. We're all getting used to the language and the boys are using French whenever they can when talking to people....it's been amazing. We're even talking french amongst ourselves for practise. (If George isn't sure what the word is in French, he just uses 'oui')
We walked along the Seine to see the Statue of Liberty replica and then down to Notre Dame.
A special hello to Ompa. Happy Fathers Day, sorry we can't be there to share it with you....but lots of love and hugs from Paris xxx
