Although the sun is out at the moment I feel sorry for people who have arrived this week for thier holiday. The last three days have seen on and off torrential rain and the forcast seems to more of the same until about Saturday/Sunday. Doesn't bother me as I have been in Thailand for almost a month and have seen endless sunshine and the objective was not to sit on the beach anyway. Trouble is in Samui if the beach is out of bounds then there is not a lot to do other than sit in cafes or a bar or on the internet, which all gets expensive after a while. Also the electric dies because of the rain and if you saw the state of the cables along the sides of the street you would understand why!! I did take the opportunity to get a haircut during the rain yesterday, best one I've had for years, and I didn't have to have the standard "have you been on holidays" conversation....can't be bad.
I have decided on my next course of action. Which hasn't been without it's drama, via thier website I booked myself on a Bangkok Airways flight to Singapore, as the booking was being confirmed the electrics died (see above note re: rain!) when it came back up, I failed to notice that the date had defaulted back and I had booked a flight for that day and should have been boarding at that moment! After the first initial panic the girl on the travel desk called them and got it sorted for me and changed it for next week. Anyway the result of that and a very long time on the internet sorting out my onward monements I have arranged the following -
I will be leaving Samui for Singapore on Tuesday 27th staying in a hostel there for 4 days then going on to Auz (Melbourne) on 31st March.
Off now to "catch" a bus to Lami to find a secondhand bookshop somewhere there......
