We made it!! Last night we arrived in London :) Indy picked us up at the airport -- everything is so English!
We came to Indy's house on the Tube, which is crazyyy, but Kristin and I are slowly figuring out the routes. Indys house is super nice and cozy, as soon as we stepped out from the underground (the tube), I was like omg Harry Potter! Haha (side note: trying to keep the HP comments to a minimum while I'm here haha).
Today we went to the Damien Hirst exhibit at the Modern Tate museum. So nuts! Damien Hirst is a famous British artist, he does some crazy things. For example, we saw a cow that was completely cut straight down the middle and each cow-half was preserved and in a giant case full of formaldehyde. The two cases were a few feet apart so you could literally walk down between the two cow-halves and see all the cow organs and everything. Needless to say, I didn't walk down the middle but it was still pretty cool... And gross. He also had a cow calf that way. He's known for his shark that is in an aquarium full of formaldehyde. It was a giant shark floating in the middle of this tank, it was nuts. Damien Hirst also does a ton with dots and also with butterflies. There was even an exhibit room that was just a room full of living butterflies flying around. Although his stuff was completely off the wall, it was pretty crazy and cool.
After the museum we walked a bit around London. We saw the Globe Theater and walked across the Millennium Bridge, we saw St. Paul's Cathedral, and then also Big Ben and the Tower of London in the distance.
London's shopping scene is amazinggg and I've already had to hold myself back from compulsively shopping Haha
We ate at this sandwich place (totally forget the name) but it was basically like the Panera of England but better (yes it's possible). Now we are all chilling at Indys house, drinking some type of champagne (or is it wine?) and then we are going to head out to the local pub for dinner and drinks!
Also- totally keeping a list of words that are completely different than ones we use in the USA. See below! Haha
Prawn - shrimp
Hench - buff/muscly
Kirby Grips (my favorite so far) - bobby pins
