Hiya everyone! I managed to get to Russia in one piece and I am not sure when I will next be near a computer so I thought that I'd write a quick note now.
Despite the slightly unfortunate start of trying to put an illegal amount of money on my travel card and having my account and all my money frozen all has now been rectified. Since this tiny teething mistake on the planning front everything has been going much more smoothly. We arrived in Russia yesterday afternoon to the slightly surprising announcement that a russian medical team would be coming aboard to check out temperatures to try and screen us all for carrying swine flu. Luckliy this turned out to be one lady with some sort on infra red camera rather than involving a thermometer! Our hostel was completely surrounded by police cars but otherwise lovely. We met our group for the railway trip and went round the red square which was beautiful in the dark. More sight seeing today including around the Kremlin and Red Square. It seemed to involve a little too much of being shouted at by scary uniformed guards but was really interesting. I did make an attempt to upload my photos but having the instructions in Russian somewhat defeated me!
We're getting on the train to travel to Mongolia tonight so I will message again when I get the chance. I hope everyone is well.
