Sunday 30 August
We want to leave about 9:30am to make it to the Peak District by 11. I hang my washing load out and Jonathan cooks an English breakfast. Also a cooked NZ breakfast. The day is fine but overcast. We make it to the uncles house by 11:15 and visit with him and some neighbours, one who is to be our tour guide today.
We travel through the hills and see the rolling moors and flowering heather. We stop in quaint little towns and see fields with stone fences. After roast lunch at a carvery we head out to see a cliff face and get a lovely view overlooking the country side. Last stop of the day is at chesterfield house. It starred in a pride & prejudice film. It is lovely and huge with beautiful grounds. There are many events held there to help cover costs of having such a house. We part ways with Jonathan's parents and Wayne the guide. We just make it to the supermarket in time: they close at 4pm and reopen at midnight. Some strange 6 hour trading Sunday laws. They want to treat us to some English traditions. When we get back I have a nap. Need to catch up on some sleep! After dinner we chat and head to bed early.
