Tuesday 21st April
I wake early with a crashing headache, so I get up to sterilise water and take Panadol and try to go back to sleep for a few hours. We lounge about and get up late, sort our dried clothes and tidy our bags.
We walk around town and through the markets. We buy an unknown sweet which turns out to be quite brittle. I see some lovely carved ornaments or Chilean couple I would love: again sad no room for souvenirs. We go to the museum which covers the eras of development in the area then walk around the streets. On the way back to the hotel we stop for juice and lunch. We nap in the afternoon until about 4pm. The van comes for the group at 4:30pm and off to the moon valley where we walk to the top of a dune/crater for a great view. We continue along to view some rocks looking like 3 Mary's and a dinosaur. This is chilies salt flats. There is only a small about of salt and it looks like melting snow. It's nearly sunset so we leave for a hill to view the sunset and snacks and drinks. Its a good view of the area, but very dry, arid and spare. There are some snow capped mountains and the oasis to brighten the view.
When we return to have to wait to go out for dinner.
It's a late night and tomorrow a long bus.
