Whistler, British Columbia
On the 27th of December last year me and my family embarked on a journey I will never forget. We went to Whistler, Canada.
My family love skiing and I learnt from the age of four and have gone nearly every year since. From the picture perfect landscapes of whistler town to the steep snowy mountains it was great in every way.
We had business class seating for the 11 hour journey, even though it is expensive I highly recommend it too anyone who hates flying or who is going on a long haul flight. The food and staff are so much more nice, and the seats that change into beds are a nice way to get some sleep too.
After the 11 hour flight a further hour and a half was spent in a mini van on our way to whistler. This being my families second time to the beautiful resort we knew a lot if places which wasn't a problem.
The accommodation was very close to the mountains and the ski hire shop was right below us and in the same building. Waking up to see the gorgeous white slopes were great.
The runs were easily readable and labeled clearly, also they were kept well groomed. Ski school pupils were kept under control at all times and you could ski happily with out worry.
My older brother nine hours before our flight home went out for his last run with my uncle but unfortunately broke his leg. This meant he had to stay there an extra week with my mum. The ski patrol were very helpful as well as his medical team who nursed him better after the operation.
This is also a lesson because the travel insurance came very handy those days. The room my brother was staying in just alone without medicine or clinical help was 2000$. Make sure when traveling to the states and Canada you have good travel insurance to cover things like this from occurring and ruining your holiday.
I definitely recommend whistler to any family, young couple, groups of friends or small groups. The people were beyond friendly and the restaurants, pubs and shops were great too, if you are thinking about taking a big trip I would consider whistler, Canada.
